Creating docs and pages with Confluence

Confluence Integration

Confluence is where Quickly writes things down: postmortems, summaries, decision records, and status pages generated from work that already exists in your other tools.

Connecting

Confluence is a separate connection from Jira, even though both use your Atlassian account.

  1. Open Settings > Integrations > Connectors.
  2. Find Confluence and click Connect.
  3. Complete the Atlassian authorization and choose the site.

Quickly works in the spaces your own Confluence account can reach.

What Quickly Can Do

  • Create a page in a named space, with a title and content, optionally nested under an existing parent page
  • Generate a postmortem for an incident, optionally linked to its Jira issue key
  • Fetch a page by ID, including its body when the content is needed
  • Search pages by title, optionally narrowed to one space, returning up to 25 results

Space Keys

Every request needs a space key, the short code such as ENG or INC that appears in Confluence URLs. Naming the space in plain language usually works, but the key is unambiguous:

@Quickly create a page in ENG called "Failover Drill" from this thread

Postmortems

@Quickly draft a postmortem in ENG for this incident, the ticket is INC-482

Quickly reads the thread for the timeline and the participants, writes the page into the space you named, and references the Jira issue when you give it one. Ask for the sections you want if your team has a house structure:

@Quickly draft a postmortem in ENG with impact, timeline, root cause, and action items

About Templates

Quickly writes page content from your request and its context. It does not read Confluence's own page templates, and there is no template configuration screen in the dashboard. If your team has a required structure, put it in the workspace instructions once, in Settings > General, rather than restating it in every request. See Channel Defaults and Instructions.

Writing From Real Sources

The value of generating a page through Quickly is that it can gather the material first:

@Quickly write a release note in ENG from the issues resolved in MOBILE this week
@Quickly summarize every open High priority incident onto a page in ENG

Each of those runs a search before it writes.

Permissions

Quickly creates pages with your Confluence access. If you cannot publish into a space, neither can Quickly on your behalf, and the error comes directly from Confluence.

Approval and Records

Creating a page is a write action, so it follows your workspace's autonomy mode. In Conservative mode Quickly shows the space, title, and content for approval first. Every page it creates is recorded in Action Logs with a direct link.
